For the last decade I have been working on unique creations and honing my craft. My working career did not begin there however. I began working at the age of 8, and was a natural businessman from day one. I started a business in the neighborhood picking up dog crap! At that age nobody will trust you to mow their lawn or trim their bushes. However a messy dog yard, that is something you can feel comfortable paying a child to do. So at the tender age of 8 I had accounts lined up and was taking in 80 dollars a week. Not bad for a little kid!
Skip to 7 years later and I entered the illustrious food industry. While I hated every minute of it at the time. I learned valuable skills in the way of: Time management, labor management, quality (and large amounts of it), etc. Working in that fast paced environment hardens you. I quickly became able to process large volume, as well as keeping it organized. I also noticed how I was soon able to recover quickly from small disasters, adaptability was really starting to shine through. I went to permanent full-time employment at the age of 16 with the assistance of work release program at my high school.
I rounded off my corporate career in Chicago in the coffee industry. I spent a couple years managing the city’s largest coffee and espresso distributor. This was a pretty amazing job, and I learned my love for coffee while here, to this date I never had a taste for it. This alone made this job, worth it. But that wasn’t all I took from this job, I learned to take my time here. I learned to take something from beginning to end and accomplish it to the fullest possible extent. When you are responsible for so much, you can’t afford to make mistakes. A simple order being misplaced or mis-entered, could mean thousands of dollars. With zero room for error I adapted to the: 100% right, 100% of the time philosophy. If it isn’t perfect, it is not done.
